The Top Dog SF Canine Good Citizen Weekly Prep Class Includes

A weekly intermediate level drop-in class for pups who have graduated from our previous group classes and training programs.

This course is offered as an intermediate level drop-in class. The goal is to help pet parents continue to work on foundational exercises that will prepare their dogs for an AKC Canine Good Citizen Course and Certification.

Dogs will be working and the class is structured for specific behaviors.  Dogs will not be allowed to play with each other during this class, and so dogs of varying sizes may attend. The goal is for the dogs to improve socialization by training and developing obedience in the presence of other dogs, humans and different distractions.

Regular group training has immense benefits for both dogs and pet parents alike. This class will focus on helping pet parents build a stronger bond and relationship with their dog while developing and fine tuning obedience skills in real world applications. Even if you do not intend to get an AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification, this class will still be beneficial in many ways to help your dog become a confident urban well behaved pup.

In this Canine Good Citizen Weekly Prep Class we will focus on the following Training Exercises:

  • Accepting a Friendly Stranger

  • Sitting Politely for Petting

  • Appearance and Grooming

  • Out for a Walk

  • Walking through a crowd

  • Sit and Down on cue / staying in place

  • Coming when called

  • Reaction to another dog

  • Reaction to distractions

  • Supervised Separation

The AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification Goal:

To help your dog become more obedient and well-behaved with more distractions and in the real world, while teaching the pet parents skills and confidence that will enable them to have a more harmonious relationship with their canine companion.
